Saturday night in a polka dotted robe.

Yep. That's how I roll around here: Saturday night in a robe. Today was an eventful day that ended with a couple hours hanging at Pop's house, watching bad infomercials, and chatting about relationships. As a matter of fact, I'll share the advice I was given by my 86-year old grandfather tonight:

following a rousing conversation about my brother, marriage, and christmas...

"You're gonna have to get you a rabbit foot and carry it around in your pocket. When you see a good lookin' man, start rubbin' that rabbit foot and see if that man starts hoppin' toward you."

If I had a nickel for every clever saying this man spouts, I'd be a billionaire. After I cracked up, he said, "Seriously. Something has to work." Just an old man looking out for his old maid granddaughter.

So, the real order of business here is movies. I only bring this up because about this time of year, I find myself watching and re-watching the same movies over and over again. Do you find yourself in this same predicament?

You've Got Mail
Ahhhhh! This one tops my list. I. Love. This. Movie. And, stupid Netflix doesn't even carry it in online streaming, so I'm resolved to watch it with commercial interruptions on whatever tv network airs it.  Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks make me feel so much better about online dating, especially since their crazy escapade finds them knowing one another before they know that they know one another. Online dating is a crash course in the six degrees of separation. And there's nothing like addressing the white elephant in the chat room when you notice someone in your matches that you know in every day life.  Who knows, maybe a good friend will meet me in the park with his pet and lay one on me among the flowers while said pet tugs on my oversized cardigan. :)

Pretty Woman
Good grief. If Richard Gere would climb up a fire escape to save me from a life of prostitution, I'd hop in the limo every time. Well, you know what I mean.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Ryan Gosling. Shirtless. The Dirty Dancing move while it rains. There's nothing else to say about this one. It's so stinkin' cute that I can't avoid when it's on. On that note...

Dirty Dancing
"I carried a watermelon?" Cheesy dialog, super high waistlines, sexy dancing in a secret locale -- yep, sounds like my kind of summer camp! Not only can I quote about every line from the movie (Aunt Amy can, too!), but when Patrick Swayze says, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner," I fist pump the air and jump on the couch to dance around through the final scene. I'm not crazy enough to think that I'll one day do "the move" at my wedding, but I won't say I haven't over watched videos of people trying it :)

The Holiday
If trading houses with someone in another country seemed even the slightest bit like a good idea, it might be fun...especially if her brother is Jude Law. He may be a womanizer in real life, but that man is pretty. Jack Black's personality makes him super cute in this movie, so it's hard not to fall for him., too. Seriously, who can't love a man who will pick dust from the Santa Ana winds out of a woman's eye?

Oh, and my last obsession: Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. *swoon* The stories are predictable, cheesy, and heart warming, but dern it if I don't cry every cotton-pickin' time.  I'm not much of a movie person, but these get me going; what are your sittin' in your robe, chillin' with no plans movie obsessions?

  2. Love the old Sherlock Holmes with Basil Rathbone, and Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice. Plus, Cat on a Hot Tim Roof and The Long Hot Summer (Paul Newman--so yummy!)

    1. Hi, Lora! I'm not sure we know one another, but I'd like to know you, especially if you're a fellow blogger! I have a lot to learn here. I've not seen Cat on a Hot Tin Roof or The Long Hot Summer, but it seems like I'll be adding those to the Netflix/Redbox cues! :)
